Hourly Rate: $20.00

Position Summary:

Part-time Coordinator position available for Sea Mar's La Ventanilla de Salud program, located at the Mexican Consulate. The Coordinator is responsible for the admission of Mexican Nationals and their families who visit the Mexican Consulate to receive cultural and linguistically appropriate medical and healthcare services, without regard to their ability to pay. The purpose of this coordination is to improve the health of Mexican Nationals in Washington State. Medical referrals needed by the individuals who visit La Ventanilla de Salud will range from preventive medical care to urgent care. In addition, it will provide the clients/participants with the necessary assistance to identify medical or dental providers. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The coordination of services with medical/dental/social service providers to offer the services of La Ventanilla de Salud. Prepares the appropriate and necessary referrals needed by La Ventanilla de Salud participants/clients.
  • The provision of information related to health prevention programs: diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, smoke cessation, cancer prevention, dementia, home care/home health, nutrition, services for seniors, etc.
  • Development of a statewide resource directory and updates it as necessary in order to ensure accuracy in the information/referrals provided to the participants/clients.
  • Coordinates the attendance and activities of the Nurse who will report twice a week to the Mexican consulate

Requirements and/or Education:

  • Must be fluent in Spanish (speaking and writing).
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in social services or a related field and two years of paid or volunteer experience providing direct human services. Two years of relevant college-level courses and four years of paid or volunteer experience providing direct human services may be substituted for education requirements.
  • Must possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, and the ability to appropriately relate to seniors and disabled individuals over 18 years of age of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Sensitive to the needs of the diverse Latino/Hispanic population.
  • Must have a valid Washington State Driver's License and current automobile insurance.
