Senior Network Engineer – Posting #25022

Salary Rate: $157,019.00 (annually)

Position Summary:

Full-time position available for our IT department in Seattle, the South Park area. The Senior Network Engineer will manage and own data communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations. Monitors protocol compatibility, performs system tuning, and makes recommendations for improvement. Develops integrated solutions to resolve highly complex technical and business issues. Assists in network planning and network architecture design and engineering. Performs network problem resolution and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards. Performs work that is highly complex and varied in nature.

The Senior Network Engineer requires senior level experience of technical and business knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes. Provides leadership in fostering teamwork and cooperation. Assists on special projects as well as additional duties and responsibilities as required. Works closely with the information security teams to ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Understands the company's vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
  • Serve as cornerstone for escalation of network issues, providing timely and effective responses to the business.
  • Maintain operational stability for Corporate and Branch level wired and wireless data networks.
  • Enhance availability of the network with highly available and redundant products, tools and technology.
  • Build and maintain standard network topology mappings.
  • Define, perform and maintain network backups and recovery procedures.
  • Plan, schedule and deploy network patches, fixes and upgrades.
  • Create, oversee and test network related security measures.
  • Monitor, alert and report against systems providing performance statistics and reporting.
  • Manage vendor partner relationships.
  • Making recommendations for resources required to maintain and/or expand service levels.
  • Define standards and implementation strategies for integrating disparate network environments from acquisition.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; BA/BS preferred or 5 years equivalent experience; Masters is a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in the network engineering field.
  • Expert knowledge in Cisco or Juniper router and switch technology.
  • Experience / certifications in Cisco technologies desirable.
  • Experience in an analytical position responsible for managing 50+ location enterprise environment preferred.
  • Expert knowledge for all the following protocols and technology: BGP, OSPF, SDWAN, HSRP/VRRP, DMVPN, GRE, DHCP, SMTP, NTP, DNS, Fiber Channel, SNMP.
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing routing and switching issues.
  • Experience deploying and improving network performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Complete understanding of all layers of OSI model.
  • Experience in managing firewall and network security technology.
  • Linux/Unix experience a plus.
  • Good written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to present ideas in business, executive and associate friendly language.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and follow established change management processes.
  • Experience in an ITIL environment a plus.
  • Maintain availability for On-Call rotation.                   

Mathematical Skills

  • Sound, basic math skills required.
  • Must be able to develop and monitor annual budgets.

Reasoning Ability

  • Constant reading, writing, speaking and understanding English.
  • Frequent use of interpersonal skills, teamwork, customer service and use of discretion.
  • Frequent need to solve practical problems in a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Must be able to generate and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Regular decision making, independent judgment, problem analysis.

Education and Experience, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Medical Screening

Required

  • High school diploma required; BA/BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electronics or related field
  • 5 years of experience in network engineering field

Desired

  • Masters degree
  • Experience with vendor management or 5 years fortune 500 sales/systems engineering
