Group Life Counselor IV/SUDP - Posting #25220

Hourly Range: $25.09 (GLC IV) - $27.05 (SUDP)

Position Summary:

Full-time Group Life Counselor or SUDP (Substance Abuse Disorder Professional) position available immediately for Renacer, our Youth Treatment Center in Seattle. The person hired will either be working as a GLC/CDPT or CDP(SUD) (depending on experience). This inpatient rehabilitation center is designed to provide culturally sensitive chemical dependency services to patients who are at high-risk and require constant care and empathy to help in dealing with their substance use disorder. Services are provided to out-of-control, high-risk, chronic runaway youth. These youth/adult have a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency and may also have mental health problems. The person in this position must be of good character and able to maintain the understanding, physical health, emotional stability, and personality suited to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and social needs of the adolescent population served. A mid-level person is expected to have a, “moderate to complete” understanding of how to provide the direct services listed above.

The Group Life Counselor IV is a CDPT or Substance Abuse Disorder Professional position that is part of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. Direct services may include a combination or all of the following: group care, intake procedures, evaluation, individual and group counseling, milieu management, evaluation, and supervision of patients. A GLC IV is expected to be proficient in their understanding on how to provide the direct services listed above. 

Education and/or Experience for a GLC:

  • Must hold an Associate’s degree or be enrolled in a program to complete in Psychology, Sociology and Human Services, Addictions or related field; Bachelors’ preferred.
  • Must be registered with DOH as a CDPT.

Chemical Dependency Professional/CDP (SUD): The Substance Abuse Disorder Professional will be responsible for organizing and providing direct counseling services to patients. The counselor/trainee is the agent for providing services to individuals whether on a one-to-one basis or group basis. Also performs assessments, evaluations and intakes. These services are given to adults, youth and their families.

Requirements for a CDP/SUD:

  • Must have an AA degree and DASA Certification.
  • Must hold an active CDP license from the WA State Department.
  • Computer skills are a plus.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
